Welcome to Kilesands Kennel

We live on Sydkoster, an island in the archipelago outside Strömstad, we breed short-haired Dachshunds for hunting. Here, we hunt Roe Deer, Fox, and Mink. Swimming and retrieving are part of everyday life here on the west coast.

Life is never boring with a Dachshund nearby!

Our Goal

To breed confident, stable dogs that perform just as well in hunting as in everyday life, and have a healthy body that lasts over time.

As a Bracke hunting dog, we want to see a good search, hear a clear and distinct, nuanced bark, as well as precise tracking work.

Planned Litter

We’re looking for someone ready for a loyal hunting partner and family companion!

If you're also interested in participating in trials, that's a bonus. For us, it’s helps us assess our breeding progress.

Puppies are planned after SE J(D)CH Rekyls and FI BCD-H Kuutamoketun AJ Kalle.

Like Juni, Rymy (Kuutamoketun AJ Kalle) comes from documented hunting lines with proven hunting merits and is a Finnish Working Champion (Driven). Rymy is an independent male who searches widely with a bark that carries far. At home, he is a calm and wonderful family member who enjoys following his family in everything they do. For more information, visit his page on the Finnish Kennel Club, Kuutamoketun AJ Kalle. Rymy has three litters in Finland, which have produced excellent hunting dogs.

We are very excited to be able to use Rymy, and we believe he will complement Juni well. If everything goes according to plan, they will be bred in April/May. The combination's inbreeding coefficient is 1.6%.

Juni has earned three 1st prizes in three hunting trials and is now a Swedish Working Champion (Driven) – an achievement we are extremely proud of. She is a confident, sensible female with a good search, an excellent bark, always finds her way home, and is meticulous about tracking. She hunts deer, fox, hare, fallow deer, and mink with enthusiasm. She also retrieves birds and mink in water if she gets the chance before the Weimaraner.

Juni is our first dachshund and bracke hunting dog, and we carefully selected her after thorough research. It was important for us to have the healthiest and most complete parents possible, with documented hunting lines behind them. All to be as sure as one can be of getting the best hunting companion. We had the honor of being given the opportunity by Rekyls kennel, and that’s how it all started.

If this sounds interesting, don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like to know more.

ABOUT US
We are Svante Nilsson and Sara Gille, and we live on Sydkoster, an island off the coast of Strömstad in Sweden, where we run both a construction company and a guesthouse.

We started our kennel in 1998 and have since bred some litters of Weimaraners. A few years ago, we realized that we were missing a hunting dog, so we chose the Dachshund – and it has been a perfect match!

The Dachshund is a fantastic companion, both in the forest and at home, and we have truly found a breed that suits us.
